Objectives of Stock Preparation & Papermaking

  • Conduct applied research related to Stock Preparation, Wet end Optimization, Papermaking, Paper Recycling and quality improvement of finished products.
  • Execute Plan/ Cess funded projects in the area of paper recycling and papermaking.
  • Industry/ Mill specific sponsored projects.
  • Human Resource Development for Indian Paper Industry.
  • Conduct R&D work on optimization of wet end chemicals, improvement in FPR, FPAR and wet end optimization based on charge measurement.
  • Internal Sizing (Acid/ Neutral / Alkaline) and surface sizing.
  • Alkaline/neutral/enzymatic deinking and bleaching of Recycled Fibre Stock for technology adoption.
  • Quantification and control of stickies generation and accumulation in RCF stock.
  • Control of paper machine deposit formation employing Total Organic Carbon (TOC) measurement to assess microstickies and Dissolved Colloidal Material (DCM).
  • Application of enzymes, oxygen and ozone for quality up gradation of RCF stock.
  • Grading of indigenous recovered paper.
  • Performance evaluation and troubleshooting programs for mills in the area of wet end optimization, internal sizing, surface sizing and RCF processing and papermaking. 
  • Provide consultancy & technical services to paper mills, chemical suppliers, scrap dealers & overseas clients.
  • Establish mechanism to enhance recovery rate of indigenous recovered paper.
  • Execute contract/collaborative research programs with International R&D institutes. 
  • Information dissemination through organization of Seminars, Workshops and Training Programs.
